Explore the critical intersection of law enforcement and mental health in the workshop at the Kellin Foundation's Provider Academy. This session provides an examination of the challenges and opportunities that arise when addressing mental health within the context of policing.

Facilitators will delve into topics such as crisis intervention strategies, de-escalation techniques, and the role of empathy in interactions with individuals experiencing mental health crises. Participants will gain insights into collaborative models between mental health professionals and law enforcement, fostering a deeper understanding of how to navigate complex situations with sensitivity and effectiveness.

Discussions will also cover the impact of trauma on both officers and the communities they serve, emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness within law enforcement agencies. The workshop aims to equip attendees with practical tools to enhance communication, minimize escalation, and promote positive outcomes in encounters involving mental health challenges.

Kellin Foundation's Provider Academy is a series of free workshops for all behavioral health and substance abuse providers and peer support specialists to gain current information about mental health and continuing education credit hours. Addiction counselors and peer support specialists receive 1.5 NCSAPPB General Skill Building Hours for each session.
